Mugicha was an item I could not buy (from a trusted source) until now. Japanese Snacks Republic has it all! I have been studying the Japanese language for almost 5 years now. Early on in my studies, about 3 years ago, there was a lesson and it briefly mentioned mugicha. As an avid tea lover, my curiosity was piqued but I could not find it anywhere until now.

For those of you who are wanting to try this but are uncertain, let me share my thoughts. This tea has a very unique flavor. It is barley tea. It smells delicious when steeping, almost like the warmth of a fire…I know….I cannot describe it any other way. The flavor is very deep and for me, it will be a tea to enjoy in the fall, winter, and early spring, as I only drink hot tea. The smell and flavor feel very relaxing and pleasant.

I think if you are a cold tea drinker, this would also be a very refreshing and comforting tea, no matter what time of the year. I really enjoy it and would recommend it. I am so grateful to finally be able to experience my first cup of mugicha.

*Also, these bags are actually larger than your standard tea bag and will work perfectly if you need to brew a larger pot or make a pitcher for cold tea.
