Hello everyone. If it's between gratin and peperoncino, I prefer peperoncino. I'm Boss from Japanese Snacks Republic.

Hello everyone. When it comes to gratin and peperoncino, I feel like peperoncino tends to be spicier, so I find myself eating the less spicy gratin more often. I'm Saori from Japanese Snacks Republic!

So, for this reason, we have these two 'retro' flavors of Cream Gratin & Peperoncino that Chicken Ramen has recreated in their new product. We'd like to investigate it!

Eh!? Why Chicken Ramen!!?

【Chicken Ramen】Recreating the “Retro” flavors of Japan with Cream Gratin & Peperoncino Chicken Ramen! Are they making an appearance?

Why? What kind of ramen is Chicken Ramen in the first place?

Chicken Ramen is a series of cup noodles or instant noodles released by Nissin Foods. A characteristic feature is that the noodles are already infused with plenty of chicken flavor. You just need to pour hot water to complete it (just cook it in hot water). The convenience, and also the attractiveness of being able to eat it in a half-cooked state by putting a raw egg into a specially designed egg pocket on the noodles (if you want it hard-boiled, steam it a bit and it becomes delicious), are notable.

Chicken Ramen has been enthusiastic about releasing spaghetti-flavored cup noodles lately, hasn't it?
boss
Exactly. They released a Napolitan flavor recently, didn't they? I hadn't tried it because the visual impact was strong, but it was delicious when I did!

Gratin features the flavors of cheese and roasted onion, while Peperoncino is characterized by a spicy kick of chili peppers!

boss
Ah! The direction they're taking is quite different. To begin with, Gratin comes with broth, and Peperoncino doesn't—that's a huge difference!

I quite like the rich taste of Gratin! The cheese really comes through, so I'd recommend it more for cheese lovers than Gratin lovers!
boss
Peperoncino might not be that spicy. It's spicy, sure, but I think even Saori, who isn't good with spicy foods, could eat it without too much trouble. Peperoncino flavor probably tastes better without broth. They've really thought this through!

I tried both, and personally, considering the interesting concept and flavor, I'd recommend the Gratin! But both have unique tastes, so I'd love for everyone to try them both!
