What is Kaki no Tane?

Kaki no Tane is a rice crackers. A piece is about 3 cm long and 5 mm width. This small crackers are made of mochi. The process of making Kaki no Tane is to cut mochi in small pieces, roast them, and coat with spicy sauce that is a mixture of soy sauce and chili pepper.
It has been sold since around 1925. The snack became very popular due to its unique shape and taste. Nowadays, the package contain lightly salted peanuts to reduce the spiciness of Kaki no Tane. It is called “Kaki Peanuts.”
Kaki no Tane, was named after persimmon seeds. Someone at the confectionary maker told that the shape of the cracker was similar to persimmon seed.
