description | Le Lectier is a rare variety of Western pear born in France, available only for a month from late November to late December. Known for being particularly delicious among Western pears, it's wrapped in a vibrant marigold color and is so elegant it's called the 'lady of Western pears.' Cultivation in Japan started in 1903, with Niigata Prefecture leading the way. Nowadays, Niigata produces 80% of Japan's Le Lectier pears. It's a tricky variety to grow and wasn't always produced in large quantities, but thanks to the persistent efforts and ingenuity of the people in Niigata, it's now being produced more steadily. The charm of Le Lectier lies in its high sugar content, melt-in-your-mouth flesh, and a unique, rich aroma. It's truly the pinnacle of Western pears. |
