Anmitsu is a traditional Japanese sweet that originated in the late Edo period! It's defined not by how it’s made, but by what’s inside—usually agar jelly, sweet red bean paste, gyūhi (soft mochi), boiled red peas, and sweet syrup. You can also top it with extras like shiratama (rice dumplings), whipped cream, or ice cream—it’s incredibly tasty! Different shops and regions often add their own twists, too!

Anmitsu is becoming especially popular right now as a sweet that helps you stay cool and refreshed during the hot summer! It’s available as individually packaged jelly, and you can eat it right away by pouring on the included syrup.
