Miso is a traditional Japanese seasoning, produced by fermenting soybeans with salt and kōji and sometimes rice, barley, seaweed, or other ingredients. Usually, it’s sold as paste type and it’s thick and sticky, unlike soy sauce which is another common seasoning used in Japan.

The main ingredient is soybeans but various kinds of miso can be made depending on what ingredient is added, such as barley or kōji . High in protein and rich in vitamins and minerals, miso plays an important nutritional role, even to keep skins beautiful.
