Boss, what images do you associate with Aomori?

When I hear Aomori, the first thing that comes to my mind is of course apples! Aomori is Japan’s number one apple production zone, and it proudly has the highest production number far more than the second highest area.

True! When I think of souvenirs from Aomori, I remember getting apple flavored snacks and foods! Especially from Boss!!

Of course because I love apples. Other than that, Aomori is also famous for ‘Aomori Nebuta Matsuri’ that happens in the summer. This is a very famous festival with over 2 million tourists every year. In this traditional festival, colorful floats called ‘Nebuta’ twirls around the city with dancers called ‘Haneto’ dance around it.

Nebuta is the name of that float!?

Yes. What did you think Nebuta was?

I thought that there was a town named Nebuta, and the festival that came out of that town was named Nebuta......

It’s true that festival names often are derived like that. Anyway, Aomori is a region that’s unique for its cold weather, delicacies, and the rich nature among all of Japan!
